WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) today announced he has been selected to serve on the House Committee on Appropriations. The Appropriations Committee oversees nearly all government spending activity and has one of the broadest jurisdictions of any congressional committee. Members of the House Appropriations Committee were announced today and will be confirmed by an upcoming vote from the House Republican Conference.

“I made it a priority from day one to secure a position on the House Appropriations Committee because of the significant impact it will have for Texas’ 23rd District,” said Congressman Gonzales. “This committee assignment is a huge win for our district as it will allow me to advocate for increased investments and to ensure our community’s needs are prioritized. I look forward to working with my fellow Texan, Ranking Member Granger to fight for conservative values and Texas priorities.”

“Congressman Gonzales came to Washington to work hard, and I’m excited for the fresh perspective he will bring to the Appropriations Committee,” said Ranking Member Kay Granger (TX-12). “I look forward to him joining me in delivering real results to the people of Texas.”

‘There is a reason an exception was made to put Tony Gonzales on the powerful Appropriations Committee,” said Congressman Richard Hudson (NC-8), Secretary for the House Republican Conference. “He has quickly established himself as a leader in Congress, a strong voice for common sense and a hard working advocate for his district.”
