“We must do everything in our power to ensure that veterans find the support, resources, and community they need following their military service, regardless of whether service occurred in wartime or peacetime. VSOs are essential to accomplishing this task, providing a lifetime of advocacy for veterans and their families,” said For Country Caucus Co-Chairs, Congressmen Tony Gonzales (TX-23) and Jason Crow (CO-06). “The VETT Act would incentivize Americans to support VSOs so that the men and women who fought for us continue to receive the assistance they need.”
“Veterans Service Organizations help provide a vital sense of support and community for Americans who proudly wore our nation's uniform and sacrificed so much for our country. This bill makes needed reforms to the tax code that will help Americans support VSOs as they continue to provide resources and advocacy for our military veterans and their families,”said Representative Wenstrup.
“Veteran Service Organizations are integral to supporting those who served our country in uniform, but that mission is being held back by outdated classifications in our tax code,” said Representative Panetta. “Our commonsense bipartisan legislation would ensure charitable contributions to these organizations are tax deductible to better incentivize and encourage Americans to support all those who served America. As a proud member of the For Country Caucus, I will continue to work across the aisle with my fellow veterans on common ground solutions, like the VETT Act, to ensure our government is working for veterans and their families.”
The VETT Act is endorsed by AMVETS, American Legion, AMSUS, Commissioned Officers Association of the USPHS, Fleet Reserve Association, Jewish War Veterans, Military Order of the World Wars, Non Commissioned Officers Association, U.S. Coast Guard Chief Petty Officers Association, and TREA: The Enlisted Association.

Co-Chaired by Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) and Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06), the bipartisan For Country Caucus provides principled military veteran members the opportunity to work together across party lines to pass thoughtful legislation in national security, veterans affairs, and national service. Since its founding in 2019, the caucus has advocated for a less polarized Congress that works for — and is trusted by — Americans.
