For Country Caucus Leaders Applaud Committee Passage of Defense Authorization Package
Washington, D.C. – For Country Caucus Co-Chairs Tony Gonzales (TX-23) and Jason Crow (CO-06), and Vice Chairs Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01) and Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11) released the following statement applauding the overwhelming bipartisan committee passage of the Fiscal Year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The House Armed Services Committee (HASC) reported the legislation out of committee early this morning by a vote of 58-1, with all 15 For Country Caucus members who sit on HASC voting in favor of the bill.
“As military veterans, we have seen firsthand how the policies Congress adopts in the NDAA can shape our national security and impact our men and women in uniform,” the Representatives said in a joint statement. “That’s why our caucus focuses so intently on this process—it needs to be serious, comprehensive, and bipartisan so servicemembers and their families have faith in the national security decisions coming out of Washington.
“We were glad to see our fellow For Country Caucus members work hard to adopt this legislation. We look forward to continuing to refine this legislation on the House floor to ensure that U.S. servicemembers can defend our nation and its interests abroad as well as thrive here at home.”

Co-Chaired by Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) and Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06), the bipartisan For Country Caucus provides principled military veteran members the opportunity to work together across party lines to pass thoughtful legislation in national security, veterans affairs, and national service. Since its founding in 2019, the caucus has advocated for a less polarized Congress that works for — and is trusted by — Americans.
