Washington, D.C. – For Country Caucus Co-Chairs Tony Gonzales (TX-23) and Jason Crow (CO-06), released a statement this National POW/MIA Recognition Day, paying tribute to the more than 80,000 American servicemembers missing from previous conflicts.
“Today and every day, we continue to honor and remember the brave American servicemembers missing in action, and our nation’s prisoners of war,” said For Country Caucus Co-Chairs, Congressmen Tony Gonzales (TX-23) and Jason Crow (CO-06). “Their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.”
The statement was followed by the introduction of H.Res.1485 - expressing the sense of the House of Representatives the third Friday of every September annually shall be recognized as National POW/MIA Recognition Day. This resolution would acknowledge the moral obligation to fully account for all POW/MIA servicemembers, express gratitude to POW/MIA servicemembers in every conflict who fought for all Americans and support for the designation of National POW/MIA Recognition Day, and encourage all Americans to honor the service and sacrifice of POW/MIA servicemembers.
For Country Caucus Co-Chair Gonzales (TX-23), Vice Chair Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11) and caucus members Congresswoman Houlahan (PA-06) and Congressmen Bacon (NE-02), Carbajal (CA-24), Davis (NC-01), Deluzio (PA-17), Ellzey (TX-06), LaLota (NY-01), Mast (FL-21), Pfluger (TX-11), Ryan (NY-18), and Waltz (FL-06) all signed on as primary cosponsors of H.Res.1485. A total of 37 members of Congress are primary cosponsors.
Five organizations have endorsed this resolution including Military Officers Association of America, Vietnam Veterans of America, Jewish War Veterans of the U.S.A., the National Guard Association of the U.S., and the Enlisted National Guard Association.
