Washington, D.C. – This morning the For Country Caucus proudly hosted a Vietnam Veterans Memorial cleaning led by Congressman Mike Waltz (FL-06) and the National Park Service. Held in advance of Memorial Day, the event brings together veterans serving in Congress to honor the sacrifices of those who gave their lives to this country.
“It’s an honor to be a part of such a special tradition to pay our respects to the service members who never came home from Vietnam,” said Rep. Waltz. “I hope those dissatisfied with the dysfunction in Washington can be reminded that there are many veterans in Congress ready and willing to serve alongside each other and come together for important moments like today.”
“It’s always a solemn honor to join my colleagues at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. As we wash the wall, we are reminded of what it took for each name to be engraved on it. Those who bled and died so that we might remain free, they are the real reason why we observe Memorial Day. I hope that every one of my colleagues will take a moment this weekend to pause and reflect on the tremendous sacrifices of our servicemen and women who gave their last full measure of devotion in our place,” said Congressman Bergman (MI-01), Vietnam War veteran.
“Memorial Day is a time of solemn reflection for America to remember the sacrifice of servicemembers who gave their lives for our country," said Congressman Deluzio (PA-17). “I was glad to join together with my fellow veteran members of the For Country Caucus, Republican and Democrat, to honor fallen heroes at the annual Vietnam Veterans Memorial wall washing event. We can never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice.”
The For Country Caucus will continue to honor the sacrifices of our nation’s fallen as we prioritize fostering opportunities for bipartisan collaboration.

Co-Chaired by Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) and Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06), the bipartisan For Country Caucus provides principled military veteran members the opportunity to work together across party lines to pass thoughtful legislation in national security, veterans affairs, and national service. Since its founding in 2019, the caucus has advocated for a less polarized Congress that works for — and is trusted by — Americans.
