WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) joined Congressman Mike Gallagher (WI-08), Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06) and 36 of his colleagues in introducing the bipartisan Global War on Terrorism Memorial Location Act, which would authorize the establishment of a memorial for service members of the War on Terrorism on the National Mall.

“I will fight every day to ensure the sacrifices made by our Afghanistan and Iraq War veterans are never forgotten,” said Congressman Gonzales. “By establishing a memorial on the National Mall, alongside the memorials for World War II, Korea and Vietnam, I hope this will cement the courageous and brave legacy of our veterans from the War on Terrorism in American history.”

Congressman Gonzales himself is a veteran of the War on Terrorism. He served twenty years in the United States Navy and retired as Master Chief Petty Officer, the highest enlisted rank in the Navy. He has deployed multiple times to the Middle East and Asia, including both Afghanistan and Iraq.
