WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) on Monday joined 27 members of the Texas Delegation, led by Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) and Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28), in sending a letter to President Biden, requesting that all 254 counties in Texas be approved for FEMA’s emergency declaration.
“Given the magnitude, severity, and duration of the historic winter storm, it is assured the actual damage will far surpass the resources of our local communities,” said the letter. “The continued delay of FEMA Individual Assistance to all 254 counties, in the State of Texas, will only prolong the suffering of millions of Americans. Therefore, we respectfully request that you expeditiously approve this federal assistance for all Texas counties.”
“It’s important that we utilize every resource available to us to get Texas back on its feet,” said Congressman Gonzales. “Having all 254 counties qualify for FEMA’s Individual Assistance allows us to ensure that the people in both our big cities and rural areas get the help they so desperately need right now.”
