WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) on Thursday offered an amendment on the House floor that would provide Israel with emergency funds to defend itself against the continued attacks from Hamas, which Democrats blocked. The amendment would provide $500 million to the Israel Cooperative Programs for the Iron Dome defense system and several other national security measures. Congressman Gonzales spoke on the House floor regarding the amendment on Thursday morning. Read the full text of the amendment here.

“It’s incredibly disappointing to see Democrats’ take a stand against Israel, one of our closest allies,” said Congressman Gonzales. “We need to show them that we believe in their right to defend themselves and that the United States will do everything within our power to ensure they defeat these terrorists and any attacks by Iran.”
