WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Tony Gonzales (TX-23) and 38 of his House Republican colleagues introduced a resolution on Friday, urging the Biden Administration to fulfill its obligation to fully enforce federal immigration laws in response to the migrant surge in Del Rio, Texas. The resolution also requests the Biden Administration take the following actions:
1. Reinstate the Remain in Mexico Policy
2. Continue to enforce Title 42 expulsions.
3. Commit more CBP and ICE agents and resources to the southern border
4. Support Governor Abbott’s September 20th statewide emergency disaster request.
“The Biden Administration’s reversal of immigration policies has led to the historic spike in migration at our southern border, including the recent migrant surge in Del Rio,” said Congressman Gonzales. “In order to prevent another national security and humanitarian crisis, it is critical that our federal government reimplement successful immigration laws and commit further support at the southern border.”
