WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) on Monday joined House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy and their House Republican colleagues for a briefing from the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) followed by a press conference on the main takeaways from the meeting.

“Yesterday we heard the grim realities of life for our Border Patrol agents on the frontlines of this border crisis and what’s in store for our men and women in green once Title 42 is lifted,” said Congressman Gonzales. “Not only does this take a toll on our agents, it creates a new incentive for migrants to make the life-threatening journey across the border and, with the hottest months of the year on the horizon, we’re bound to see the already historic numbers double, leading to a record number of migrant deaths. The rollback of Title 42 will lead to devastating results across the board, for Americans and migrants alike.”
Last week, Congressman Gonzales joined Senators John Cornyn (R-TX) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) in leading a letter alongside members of the Texas delegation urging DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra to keep Title 42 in place.
