WASHINGTON D.C. – Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) led a group of his House Republican colleagues in introducing a resolution on Thursday honoring Texas Army National Guard Sergeant Bishop E. Evans. Sgt. Evans died while saving the lives of migrants attempting to cross the Rio Grande. Last week, the National Guard also posthumously promoted Evans from Specialist to Sergeant.

“Sgt. Bishop Evans was a hero and patriot, and he will be remembered for his bravery and compassion,” said Congressman Gonzales. “I am honored to introduce this resolution with my colleagues to ensure his legacy will never be forgotten.” 

He was joined by House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23), Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik (NY-21) and 30 of their colleagues.
