WASHINGTON, D.C. – Early this morning, Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) voted to advance articles of impeachment against Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas out of the House Committee on Homeland Security. After a nearly yearlong, thorough investigation, the committee concluded that Secretary Mayorkas has willfully refused to comply with laws passed by Congress and breached the public trust.

“Secretary Mayorkas has repeatedly violated his oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. His failure to enforce existing immigration laws has left our nation extremely vulnerable to security threats that endanger American lives. I am supportive of these articles of impeachment and will continue to push for accountability,” said Congressman Tony Gonzales.
