WASHINGTON, D.C.— Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) introduced the Border Patrol Supervisors Retention Act in the U.S. House of Representatives. Congressman Gonzales’ legislation would expand overtime pay for U.S. Border Patrol personnel in supervisory positions to improve retention, enhance operational effectiveness, and boost morale.

“Border Patrol supervisors are among the hardest-working federal employees in the service, yet they aren’t afforded the same enhanced overtime pay that has been authorized for other agents. At a time when we need to retain as much talent as we can, my bill makes it possible for Border Patrol supervisors at the GS-13 level and above to have more pay equity with their peers. This is a force multiplier for our border security, and I look forward to working with President Trump to get this signed into law,” said Congressman Tony Gonzales.

The Border Patrol Supervisors Association endorsed Congressman Gonzales’ Border Patrol Supervisors Retention Act.

"The Border Patrol Supervisors Association fully supports the Border Patrol Supervisor Retention Act. Overtime parity is essential to keeping experienced supervisors in the field, strengthening morale, and protecting the mission. This bill closes a critical gap, reinforces frontline leadership, and makes the Border Patrol stronger at a time when the country needs it most. We appreciate Congressman Gonzales and the cosponsors for recognizing the responsibility Border Patrol supervisors carry and for taking a practical step to strengthen the frontline,” said James Robertson, President of the Border Patrol Supervisors Association.

U.S. Representatives Michael Guest (R-MS), Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee Border Subcommittee, Mike Kelly (R-PA), Northern Border Security Caucus Co-Chair, Mark Alford (R-MO), Pete Stauber (R-MN), and John McGuire (R-VA) cosponsored the Border Patrol Supervisors Retention Act.
