Congressman Tony Gonzales meeting with U.S. and Mexican government officials in Ciudad Juarez.

EL PASO, TEXAS – On Thursday, Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) visited the U.S. Consulate General in Ciudad Juarez. Congressman Gonzales represents the largest border district in the U.S. House of Representatives, which includes the greater El Paso region. While in Ciudad Juarez, Congressman Gonzales was briefed by U.S. officials on current missions relating to cartel and transnational criminal organizations’ operations and met with Mexican government officials and business leaders to discuss the state of play regarding the U.S. and Mexico’s vital trade partnership and border security efforts.

The United States and Mexico will always be neighbors and should be strong partners on security, the economy, and much more. Yesterday, I met with Mexican officials, including the Mayor of Ciudad Juarez, Cruz Pérez Cuéllar, and representatives from the Chihuahua state government. I am committed to finding solutions to the problems that affect us on both sides of the border. Our meetings were productive, and I look forward to continuing to build upon our shared goals wherever possible,” said Congressman Tony Gonzales. “I want to also thank Consul Rafael Foley for hosting me and facilitating these important conservations with U.S. law enforcement partners, consular staff, and Mexican government officials during my time in Ciudad Juarez.”

Consul Rafael Foley hosted Congressman Tony Gonzales for a meeting with U.S. law enforcement and consular staff.
