WASHINGTON, D.C. – Tonight, Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) released the below statement following the State of the Union address on March 7, 2024:

“Americans everywhere agree on one thing—the State of our Union is far from perfect. President Biden is a lame-duck president, and the American people have given up on him. Under President Biden’s failed agenda, Americans have been put last time and time again. The Biden administration owns the border crisis. Dangerous human traffickers and cartels have taken control of our borders. His administration has refused to take responsibility for rolling back Trump-era policies that were effective in deterring illegal immigration, deadly fentanyl, and dangerous actors from pouring into our country. President Biden touts that our economy is strong, but Americans see right through his words. I served 20 years in the U.S. Navy—I’ve dedicated over half of my life to serving our great nation. I believe in this country, and I have faith that we can turn things around—but the status quo cannot hold. We need change now,” said Congressman Tony Gonzales.
