SAN ANTONIO, TX – Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) on Friday announced over $350,000 in grant funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for Head Start programs in Texas’s 23rd district. Congressman Gonzales previously served as the Community Representative for the City of San Antonio Head Start Policy Council from 2018 – 2019.

Grants will be awarded to the following organizations within the district:

  • $211,280 for Kids Are First, Inc. in Carrizo Springs.
  • $104,135 for San Felipe Del Rio Consolidated Independent School District in Del Rio.
  • $35,213 in Pecos County Community Action Agency in Fort Stockton.

“I applaud the HHS for putting these funds into the Head Start program,” said Congressman Gonzales. “As a father of six, I understand how vital it is for kids to have access to the best resources, so they can become exemplary leaders and members of our communities.”
