WASHINGTON D.C. – Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) announced his appointment by Republican House Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) to serve on the Mexico-United States Interparliamentary Group (IPG). The United States and Mexico have a strong cultural and economic relationship and work together to address issues of immigration, security, and trade. The U.S.-Mexico IPG allows Congresses of both countries to work together on these issues.

“I am honored to be appointed by Leader McCarthy to the Mexico-United States Interparliamentary Group. With my district responsible for over 800 miles of the southern border, I understand firsthand the importance of open communication and collaboration with our southern neighbors,” said Congressman Gonzales. “Strengthening our bilateral ties with Mexico is critical to our economic prosperity and is a key component in addressing the ongoing border crisis. I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to strengthen our partnership with Mexico.”
