SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – Today, Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) joined President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump in Kerrville, Texas, to support flood relief efforts. Together, President Trump, the First Lady, Congressman Gonzales, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins, HUD Secretary Scott Turner, U.S. Small Business Administrator Kelly Loeffler, and members of the Texas Congressional Delegation received a briefing on emergency response measures underway in Texas.
“When disaster strikes, there is no time to waste. President Trump made it clear from day one that Texas will receive federal resources to support Hill Country communities during this very difficult time for our state. During today’s visit, President Trump assured us that Texans will be supported throughout every stage—from recovery to rebuilding,” said Congressman Tony Gonzales. “Through my seat on both committees with jurisdiction over the Department of Homeland Security, I will continue to build upon my efforts to fund public safety initiatives for Texas.”
Through Congressman Gonzales’ seat on the House Appropriations Committee, he has secured nearly $17 million for emergency operations, including an Emergency Operations Center for Uvalde, and upgrades to communications networks and equipment for first responders in South and West Texas.
This year, Congressman Gonzales submitted a community project funding request for an Emergency Operations Center that would enhance emergency response coordination, disaster recovery operations, and public safety support for the residents of Frio County and surrounding rural areas.
Additionally, Congressman Gonzales secured $375,000 for Hudspeth County for flood management in 2022.
Congressman Gonzales serves on the House Homeland Security Committee and the House Committee on Appropriations subcommittee on Homeland Security, both of which address policy and funding matters regarding the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
